My Book Project: Introduction
I’m currently finishing a book about what it actually means to become a self-actualised teacher in higher education—at every stage of life, in a world that keeps shifting underneath us.
This book is for higher education teachers who are seeking — perhaps without yet knowing what they are seeking — and for educators who want to step into their strength. Society is being reshaped by AI and ever-growing socio-economic imbalance. The world is facing ecological crisis, and universities are once again required to justify their existence in terms not of their own choosing. None of these forces will be navigated from the outside alone. The most radical act available to any educator navigating these times is self-emergence. We must learn to understand ourselves, and keep becoming, so we can bring our messy authentic selves into the classroom — into any room. Self-actualisation is not a luxury. It is a necessity: the only truthful foundation from which to teach.
