and need some people who are willing to test it!
Good morning lovely readers. Last night I went down the rabbit hole of: could I use Gemini Pro to help me make a game?
You might remember the Questionopoly game I created for my MEd students, and since moving into fully online teaching I always meant to make a digital interactive version of it.
Could you please help me identify inconsistencies, by all means improvements to language (grammar, typos), and things that would be nice to have.
I managed, to make:
- back and forth buttons (don’t laugh getting rid of the pesky “go back” button in the introduction took me forever!),
- navigating using the tiles,
- ALT image text
- manually extendable text boxes
- text remains in textbox while browser is open
- mobile adaptable
The game!

The process
Since I had the accessible word version of the game, it was easy to use this as a structure. Gemini I even gave me a choice of programming languages and I figured since I had to sit through hours and hours of learning JS during my undergraduate (more than 20 years ago so even calling my skills rudimentary is a stretch!), and used to make my own websites with html I figured I use these languages. There is also CSS to make things more pretty.
What I liked was that I got explanation for code lines. So after the basic script, setting up the structure etc, I added more complexity and Gemini wrote notes on code lines explaining what they do. This is catnip for my ADHD brain. Seriously! I learn and get explanations while doing a real life thing.
It took about three hours making the game (keep in mind I already had the content etc) and maybe another two hours me breaking things and needing to fix them, and setting up publishing.
